چکیده

The origin of natural antibodies has been the subject of much controversy over a period of years. Since the extensive investigations by Landois2" on the transfusion of blood, the antibodies from opsonins to those directed against toxins and many infectious agents have been intensively investigated. The scope of investigation has even been extended to cold-blooded animals, revealing hemagglutinins in the blood of turtles,34 alligators,6 and frogs.30 Isohemagglutinins and bacterial agglutinins have also been reported 5' 3 to be present. A great many surveys have been made, which produced evidence for more than one theory of origin. From results of the Schick test performed on more than 150,000 children, .Zingher40 concluded that repeated exposure to infection with the diphtheria bacillus is the most important factor in the development of natural immunity. Parr and Avery25 claim the importance of a racial factor. After a survey of family groups Hirszfeld and his colleagues"6 postulated that immunity or susceptibility to diphtheria is inherited in correlation with blood groups. They believed the blood groups to be constitutional characters and susceptibility to diphtheria to be inherited in correlation with these. It naturally follows that the physiological appearance of antitoxins is also a constitutional character. An external stimulant can prematurely accelerate the formation of antibody only if the physiological capacity exists. This genetic connection between blood group and Schick reaction has been questioned.28 Hirszfeld17 has formulated a theory to account for the occurrence of normal antibodies. He regarded normal antibodies as biochemical organs whose formation is a serological reflex; just as reflexes such as sucking, etc., occur in many animals, so also many normal antibodies occur in the serum without specific stimulation. This occurs at certain times during the life of the individual, and this process of serological maturation was called serogenesis, in analogy to morphogenesis. Before serological maturity has been reached, an antigenic stimulus remains without any

O-27: Genome Instabilities in Preimplantation Development Leading to Genetic Variation between Tissues of Normal Human Fetuses

Background: Origin of midlife copy number variations (CNVs) between tissues in non-genetic diseases is unknown. Such genomic differences caused by post-zygotic events. They might either happen during the life or due to prevalent mosaicism in preimplantation stage. We aim to explore fetal mosaicism and its origins. Materials and Methods: Two apparently normal fetuses were achieved following the ...

واریاسیون‌های طبیعی کمپلکس لیگامان گلنوهومرال در جمعیت ایرانی

Background & Aim: Although glenohumeral ligament complex was described decades ago, its anatomic variants, which are necessary to be known to differentiate normal anatomy from pathology, have not been assessed in Iranian population. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prevalence and morphologic characteristics of normal variations in the glenohumeral ligament complex (GHLC) in Ira...

Case Report: A Rare Variation in Origin of Common Interosseous Artery: A Review of Anatomical Studies and Case Report

An unusual origin of the common interosseous artery is reported in the paper. During educational dissection of a 37-year-old male, a rare variation in the origin of common interosseous artery of the right upper limb was observed. The common interosseous artery directly separated from radial artery. The right anterior interosseous artery is continued from common interosseous artery. Anterior and...

A Critical Analysis of the Origin and Nature of Classical Mathematical Economics: Why Classical Economists Did Not Use Mathematics?

The role of mathematics in economic analysis is not yet a settled question. Smith, Ricardo, Mill and other eminent classical economists did not use mathematics in their economic theorizations. We have defined classical mathematical economics as the whole body of literature in mathematical treatment of economics originating mainly from the contributions of Cournot,  Jevons and Walras. There are ...

From Embodiment to Metaphor: A Study on Social Cognitive Development and Conceptual Metaphor in Persian-Speaking Children

This study explores the metaphoric comprehension of normal Persian-speaking children, as well as theories of cognitive development and cultural and social impacts. The researchers discuss the improvement of the understanding of ontological conceptual metaphors through age growth and cognitive development, and how it helps to expand children’s thoughts and knowledge of the world. In this study, ...
